JBLM Job Fair Showcases State Employment Opportunities

One of the task fair’s goals was to help people find out about profession opportunities and how their skills align with them, Gentz said.

Education is a key benefit of participating in a task fair, as about 40% of those who start with the TAP discover they’re “not prepared to make that dive yet,” or they have seen the readily available opportunities and choose to continue serving, Gentz stated.

“We see that essentially every year,” he said. “We desire them to make an educated choice about their career.”

Part of the education piece is learning more about finances, including credit reports, budget plans and “building a savings so you have something to deal with when it’s time to get out,” Handoe said.

“Everybody’s going to get out of the Army at some point,” he stated, “but while you’re in, are you doing whatever you can to prepare to get out?”

Job fairs also exist to assist individuals with networking, seeing what people in the outside world are trying to find – including accreditations, accreditations and education – and learning about their working with practices, Handoe said.
