The Middle East is a region where vehicle is king and fuel is low-cost, frequently leaving little incentive to discover more environmentally-friendly methods of walking around.
But this year, as protests across the Middle East have pushed up the cost of oil, the issue of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.
In a region that has one of the greatest carbon footprints in the world, one service is taking benefit of the growing pressure to find options to oil. It’s set up the Middle East’s first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It’s proving lucrative too, currently their client-list includes McDonald’s.
